John Hendricks Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home on Jan. 13, 2026.
John R. Hendricks, 81, of Franconia Township, passed away peacefully at home on January 10, 2026, after a long illness. He was the devoted husband of Karen Hendricks for 26 years.

Born December 2, 1944, in Quakertown, he was the son of the late John L. and Pauline (Barndt) Hendricks. He graduated from Souderton High School, Class of 1962, then attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Iowa. John heroically served our country in the Vietnam War, earning his rank of E-5 Sergeant, U.S. Army, upon his honorable discharge.

As a young man, John worked various jobs; he delivered milk for West View Dairy and was a laborer at Musselman Masonry, ultimately leading to the start of his career at Moyer Packing Company (now JBS) of Souderton. During his 37-year tenure at MOPAC, he served as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of the Rendering and Transportation Divisions.

Throughout his career, John was active in the rendering industry as a member of the American Fats and Oils Association (AFOA) and the Animal Protein Producers Industry (APPI). He served as Chairman of the Board of the National Renderers Association (NRA) from 1990–1991, as well as President of the Eastern Region NRA. His influential work in the rendering community fostered many relationships with colleagues turned lifelong friends.

Outside of work, John's favorite pastime was golf-a passion that began as a caddie for the founders of Indian Valley Country Club, where he later became a member in 1974. He served on the IVCC Board and the Franconia Realty Co. for many years. John and Karen enjoyed golf at home in Telford and in Sanibel, Florida, where they resided from 2002–2020. They traveled with friends on several river cruises, and John enjoyed annual Vegas golf trips with the guys.

In recent years, you could find John tinkering in his garage or watching television at an intolerable volume. He enjoyed scenic drives, going out to eat at his favorite local restaurants, then shopping for bulk quantities of any household item!

To know him was to love him. He was curious and inquisitive and genuinely interested in learning about the people he met. John will be fondly remembered for his cheerful smile, gentle spirit, and selfless generosity to those he loved. Above all, he adored his family who surrounded him with love and comfort in his final days.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his mother; daughter Jill (David) Riccio; sons J. Michael (Lauren) and Zachary (Briana); grandchildren Julianna, Jordanna, and Jaclyn Riccio; Evan, Caroline, and Bryn Hendricks; and Joseph Hendricks.

Also surviving are stepchildren Brian, Blair (Marcie) Schilling, and Kimberly (Ed) Miller; step-grandchildren Hannah, Christian, Jeremy (Kendell), and Jack Schilling; Eddie and Maggie Miller; sister Sandra (Greg) Clemens; nephew Chad; and niece Stephanie.

The family will greet guests on Saturday, January 24, 2026, from 1–3 PM at Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home, 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford, PA, 18969. Services and interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in John's name to St. Luke's Hospice.

I smile, remembering the times when Johnny and George Balzer came to visit his cousin Dale, my husband who was declining with dementia. Dale was so pleased, and so I smile at the memory. Rest in peace, John.
