John F. Herrmann, of Stillman Valley, IL passed away suddenly Wednesday, January 8th while enjoying life in Fort Myers Florida.

John was born February 6th, 1962, the son of Vernon and Patricia Herrmann. John grew up in Shabbona, IL where he graduated high school in 1980 from Shabbona High School.

John married Alison Svendsen on December 30st 1983 when they began their life together. After marriage they settled in Stillman Valley where they raised their two children Kyle and Chase.

John began a career in the building products industry shortly after graduating college. He remained in that field where he eventually ended up running the Illinois division of Badgerland Supply until he was able to retire in February of 2023. John was able to live a dream retired life as he was able to travel with his wife and dog Piper across the United States visiting different areas of the country for months at a time. They were able to experience so much in a short time.

He always said his greatest achievement in life was his family. He loved his wife and enjoyed there many adventures together. He was so proud of his boys and loved watching them grow up, from the high school football memories to watching them become fathers of their own. He kept a youthful spirit when playing with his four grandchildren and he loved being a grandpa.

John loved and lived life to the fullest and was always quick with a joke and a laugh. His favorite pastime was spending time with friends and family. Many will remember some of his favorite sayings. “I’ve got time for one more”, “No one likes a quitter”, “Cool, Crisp, Yet, refreshing”, “Not bad for a short, fat, ugly guy” and his grandkids favorite “Next time I see you I’ll be looking at you”. He made lifelong friends anywhere he went. He was truly one of a kind that made a lasting impression on almost everyone that he came across.

He is survived by his loving wife Alison, of Stillman Valley; two sons Kyle (Rebecca) of Oconomowoc, WI, Chase (Ashley) of Wildwood, Mo; grandchildren Harrison, Essie, Finnegan, and Jameson Herrmann; His mother Patricia of Shabbona, Father and Mother in Law Charles and Anna Svendsen of Earlville, IL.; Four brothers and two sisters Brad (Hope) of Charlotte, NC., Steven (Terri) of Winter Park, FL., Mark (Rebecca) of Indianapolis, IN., Karen (Dan) Nolan of Shabbona, IL., Jennifer of Dekalb, IL., Nathan of London, England; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father Vernon. A visitation will be held at Farrell Holland Gale in Stillman Valley on Sunday, January 19 from 10:00am to 12:30pm followed by a few brief words from family. Please join us at Double-O Saloon & Grill at 5555 Clark St, Monroe Center, IL, to celebrate John’s remarkable life until 4:00pm. Where friends and family are invited to remember a life too short but was truly a gift to us all.

In Honor of John, we have setup a memorial fund. At this time we are still determining how the funds will be used, but they will be directed towards something near and dear to John’s heart.
