Speaks Suburban ChapelJohn Wesley Hill, a dedicated family man, esteemed veteran, and loyal craftsman, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025.
Born on September 5, 1949, in Independence, John was the son of the late Billie Lee and Virginia (Kelly) Hill. He attended William Chrisman High School and continued his education at Northwest Missouri State University.
Mr. Hill honorably served his country in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic, stationed at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. Upon his discharge in 1973, he embarked on a career with the Carpenters Millwright Union, dedicating 25 years of service before his retirement.
A man of diverse passions, John was an avid enthusiast of the outdoors and mechanics. He was a devoted motorcycle rider, finding great joy and camaraderie on his Harley-Davidson during travels in his early years. He cherished time spent working on projects at home and gathering with family and friends. Known for his generous spirit, John was a selfless individual within his community, always ready to extend a helping hand. He held a deep appreciation for nature and the sciences, frequently enjoying programs such as National Geographic and Animal Planet.
John is survived by his two children, Paul Bryan Hill and Kimberly Dawn Keith; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his two siblings, Teresa and Linda.
A formal funeral service will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street S, Independence, MO 64055. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
