John Larry Hinson, Sr., 76, of Sanford, N.C. loving husband, father, and minister was called to heaven to a restored body in his eternal home on Tuesday the 1st of October 2024. John may have lost his 3-year cancer battle, but he won his ultimate reward.
John was born May 27th, 1948, to Jack and Louise Hinson in St. Pauls, N.C. He attended St. Pauls High School where he met the love of his life, Betty Beaney Hinson. John was lead early in life to become a minister. He passionately and faithfully served congregations in the Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 45 years. He was a member of the North Carolina Conference of the IPHC.
John was married on June 30th, 1968, to his soulmate, Betty. The two had a love like no other. They were inseparable and enjoyed doing life together. They enjoyed woodworking, crafting, fishing, listening to gospel music and taking adventures to the mountains every chance they could get. In March of 1986, they welcomed their only son and their pride and joy, John Larry Hinson, Jr. into the world. John Sr. inspired John Jr. to be in the music ministry through his guidance, love and support.
John has touched many lives through his ministry as well as through his neighborly love and he will be greatly missed until we meet again. John was preceded in death by his mother, Louise, his father, Jack and his brother, Ronald Hinson. He is survived by his wife, Betty Hinson, of the home; son, John Hinson (Wendy) of Lexington; brother, Dickie Hinson (Joyce) of St. Pauls; sister, Jackie Merle Billings (Jeff) of Winson-Salem; and sister, Susan Jarman of Parkton.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home in Sanford, NC to celebrate his life on October 19th at 2:00 PM with Reverend Elton Bryan and Reverend Danny Nelson officiating. You are welcome to visit with the family after the service at the funeral home.
Remembrances may be made in the form desired by friends.
