Stanley Stephenson, 93, of Sanford, NC passed away on September 8, 2025.

He was born to parents Stanley and Mary, on November 22, 1931, in Wigan, UK. Exemplifying his name, Stanley ("stoney meadow" in Old English) rose from dirt floors and wartime rationing to engineering prominence. He also embodied the Stephenson ("son of St. Stephen") tradition of resilience, practical innovation, and hard work.

Stan served in the Royal Army at an exceptionally early age. He emigrated to Canada and then the US to work in various technical fields. An entrepreneur in plastics manufacturing, he ultimately became a business and land owner, and led global projects across broad engineering disciplines. In retirement he tinkered to improve various products and was well known for his love of gardening and ballroom dancing.

He is predeceased by his sisters Jean and Irene and brother Alan. He is survived by his loving wife Reinette, sisters Kathleen and Marina, brother Arthur, daughter Lynn and husband Jimmy, son Robert, son Scott and wife Deanne, daughter Jennifer and husband Tim. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephen, Cheryl, Heather, Clinton, Michaella, William, Alexander, Marion, Riley, Tyrus, and Aiden, and great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Hunter, and Bella.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Jonesboro United Methodist Church with Rev. Cat Clyburn officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall, Wesley Center, following the service.
