Mineral Point - Mildred Irene Stephenson, age 91, of Mineral Point, passed away Thursday morning, September 11, 2025, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg. Mildred was born April 10, 1934, the daughter of John and Marion (Ferrell) Olson. Mildred graduated from Mineral Point High School in 1952 and married fellow classmate Leslie Stephenson in June of 1953. Together they raised 6 children on the family farm outside of Waldwick. Mildred and Leslie were lifelong members of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Mineral Point. Mildred was a homemaker who loved gardening and filled her yard with flowers every summer for 72 years. She was passionate about genealogy, compiled volumes of history on every side of the family, and helped many others in pursuit of their own family roots. She was also very knowledgeable about the history of Mineral Point and the surrounding area. Mildred is survived by four sons and two daughters -- Dan (Margie) Stephenson, Carol Stephenson, Duane Stephenson, Dale (Chris) Stephenson, Cathy (Glenn) Pierce, and David (Wendy) Stephenson; 13 grandchildren -- Stephanie (Mark) Acherman, Trevor Stephenson, Brandon, KC, Jamie, Toni, and Josh Stephenson, Lesley (Allen) Macaulay, Carter (Ashley) Stephenson, Jaclyn (Alex) Schmidt, Lee Stephenson, and Cody and Callie Pierce; and 15 great-grandchildren -- Michaela, Bryce, and Reid Acherman, Owen and Sophia Stephenson, Max, Evie, Neil, and Patricia Macaulay, Brynn, Cade, and Isla Stephenson, and Lily, Brielle, and Cooper Schmidt. She is further survived by her siblings Kenny (Joan) Olson, Delbert (Judy) Olson, Doris (Merle) Freymiller, and Melva Quirk; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and special friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, John and Marion Olson; husband of 65 years, Leslie Stephenson; father and mother-in-law, Leslie and Rena Stephenson, brothers-in-law James Stephenson and Bob Quirk; twin infant grandsons, and an infant great-granddaughter. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST in Mineral Point. Pastor Daniel Yeazel will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 - 10:50 AM. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the incredible staff at Agrace Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care of Mom.
