Born July 19, 1934, in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Charles Wilber Hipp, Sr. A proud U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Hipp later retired from the Harris Plant after more than 30 years of dedicated service.
He was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was also active in the Greenwood Masonic Lodge #91.
In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, he is survived by a son, John T. Hipp, Jr. (Johnny) and his wife, Tiffany Hipp of Hampton, SC; and two cherished grandchildren, John Thomas Hipp, III and Havner Hipp, both of Hampton.
He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Wilber Hipp, Jr. and his wife, Margie; and by a sister, Elise Hipp Hester and her husband, Lawrence.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
