Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory - Metzger ChapelJohn Joseph Hizer 74, Kewanna, passed away after a short illness Friday, January 9, 2026 at Canterfield of Fort Myers, FL.
He was born August 21, 1951, in Rochester, IN to Lawrence J. Hizer and Dorothy (McLochlin) Hizer Warfield.
John is survived by sister, Marcia Campbell of Miromar Lakes, Florida, brother, Cresswell (Lynn) Hizer of Indianapolis and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather Raymond Warfield, sister, Katrina Beattie and infant brother, Lawrence Jr.
John was a 1971 graduate of Kewanna High School.
He lived and worked on the family farm while also helping at the R&D Store.
John enjoyed his winters in FL, attending several Indy 500’s, NASCAR and car shows. Owner of Corvettes, he was a life member of the National Corvette Museum, Bowling Green, KY. His trips with family were memorable, was an avid reader of history and collector of diecast models.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Kewanna.
Graveside Services for family and friends will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026 at St. Ann Cemetery in Kewanna.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kewanna Union Township Public Library Sustainability Fund C/O Northern Indiana Community Foundation.
