In Loving Memory of John Henry Hoggatt
January 28, 1941 – August 14, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude, we honor the life of John Henry Hoggatt, who passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on August 14, 2025. Born in Independence, Kansas, on January 28, 1941, to Phineas and Jane (Hart) Hoggatt, John lived a life defined by dedication, humility, and quiet strength.
After graduating high school, John proudly served his country when he was drafted into the United States Army. His time stationed in Australia became a pivotal chapter in his life-it was when he returned to Texas he met Delores, the love of his life. They were united in marriage and began a life together filled with devotion, hard work, and enduring love.
John and Delores eventually made their home in Jersey Village, Texas, where John built their forever home with his own hands-a true testament to his craftsmanship. His masonry skills, learned through the family business founded by his father in 1951, became both his career and his calling. A master bricklayer, John devoted his life to the trade, helping build a thriving business alongside his brothers. Through perseverance, excellence, and integrity, John's work left a permanent mark not only on the structures he built but on the people he worked with and mentored.
He was deeply respected-not only for his professional achievements but also for his strength of character, his unwavering generosity, and his willingness to help others. John took great pride in mentoring the next generation of masons, always ready to offer guidance, encouragement, and a steady hand. His influence shaped countless lives and careers.
John leaves behind a loving family and a lasting legacy. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved son Paul, and daughter-in-law Chris; his five grandchildren: Brandi, Wendi, Mendi, PJ, and Steven; ten great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his four brothers, one sister, their spouses, and a host of nieces and nephews-all of whom will continue to carry his spirit forward.
John's life was a true embodiment of loyalty, love, and hard work. He built more than just homes-he built a legacy of family, mentorship, and honor. Though he may be gone from our sight, the impact of his life and love remains with us always.
