John was born on December 18, 1960 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Harold Hollinshead and Patsy (Gray) Brown. He married Ann Webster on December 18, 1981, at St. Annes Catholic Church in Edgewood, Illinois. He was a drifter and a driller of oil wells. He enjoyed canoeing, camping, and saving the day. He played like he was a kid and enjoyed his grandkids especially. He loved telling colorful tales and had many iconic quotes. He loved music, and throughout his life wrote songs and poems, invented things, and encouraged creativity in his children as well. He was happy just having a beer, but really enjoyed having a beer and sharing stories.
He is survived by his mother, Patsy Brown of LaClede; wife, Ann Hollinshead of Dieterich; children, Christa Hollinshead of Toledo, Erica Hollinshead Stead (husband Thomas) of Plano, Texas, Levi Hollinshead (wife Dani) of Watson, and Kashia Summers (husband Ryan) of Beecher City; brothers, Mark Hollinshead (wife Patty) of San Angelo, Texas, Robert Hollinshead (wife Linda) of Farina, Joe Hollinshead of San Angelo, Texas, Max Hollinshead (wife Susie) of St. Elmo, Chuck Hollinshead (wife Rachelle) of Sullivan, Indiana; sisters, Sam Bradford (husband Doug) of Effingham, Jeanette Kleinick of Vandalia, and Angie Ray (husband Cecil) of Saybrook; six grandkids, Jonah, Jackson, Ransom, Odyssia, Eveyn, and Wallace; and many nieces and nephews.
