John Keith Holmberg

Albany - John Keith Holmberg passed away at St. Peter's Hospital surrounded by his family on January 9, 2026. John retired from Bethlehem Central Middle School where he was a custodian, but he worked for a number of employers throughout his life including working on a farm milking cows, Jack's Pizza in Albany, driving a yellow cab and Mike Everest's Garage and recycling which he did for several years alongside his wife Kathleen. John and Kathleen met in the early 1980's while she was celebrating her mother's birthday at a local bar. They married on August 30. 1985 and spent over 40 wonderful years together . John enjoyed having meals at many of the local diners visiting Stewart's shops to get lottery tickets, tea and their cola. He also enjoyed listening to live bands at the local casinos and parks." John's favorite entertainer was Elvis Presley and he even fashioned his look after the 1960's Elvis. John was always the one to keep the peace when he felt a situation was escalating. He also enjoyed Sunday rides to Massachusetts and trips to Atlantic City and Cape Cod.

John is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Holmberg (Diegel), his son Michael Lashwa (Debra), his daughter Jennifer Lashwa and his sister Doreen LaMountain (Holmberg). Grandfather of Christopher Lashwa. A celebration of life will be held for family and friends within the first few weeks of February. In honor of John donations can be made to the Community Hospice, 315 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
