John S. Hosfelt, age 81, of Elizabeth, died December 12, 2022, at The Grove in Irwin. Born July 28, 1941, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late William Romanosky and Loretta (Gerber) Boyda.
John retired from U.S. Steel Edgar Thomson Works in the maintenance department. He graduated from McKeesport high school. John was a United States Army veteran during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed being outdoors, always going for walks, hiking, backpacking, and taking care of his garden.
John is survived by his nieces and nephews, Loretta (Bruce) Takaht, Deborah (Richard) Winters, Louise (Glenn) Marrow, Kim Kohrs, Wilbert (Connie) Phar II, Deanna (William) Potts, Lisa (William) Miller, Karrie Phar, Angela Arnold, Jamie Smith, Chris (Annette) Riggs, Barb (Ralph) Helster, Anna Kovac, Jennifer (Dave) Honick, Joseph (Robin) Kovac, Richard Debone and many great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Joseph Romanosky, Louise Phar, Roberta "Bobby" Debone, Janet Kovac, and Carol "Snookie" Riggs.
Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m.
The funeral service will be at 12 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in St. Mary German Cemetery.
