John C. Huddleston (Hudd), 90, of Goose Bay Extension, passed away Sunday morning at Samaritan Summit Village, in Watertown, NY.
He was born July 23, 1935, in Watertown, NY, son of Donald R. and Ardis Burns Huddleston. He graduated from Theresa High School in 1953 and from Norwich Military University in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959.
John worked as a mechanical engineer for the space engineering department of United Technology, Hamilton Standard, based in Windsor Locks, CT. He traveled within the US to Houston, TX and internationally to Korea for significant projects, including working with Space Systems International on the space suit. He retired from Hamilton Standard in1998.
He married Sharon Matthews Snow, on June 17, 1989, in Poquonock, CT.
After retiring he built his home in Goose Bay on the St. Lawrence River where he loved boating and watching the ships. He also enjoyed classic cars, antique boats, and car races. He was especially fond of his 1965 Ford Galaxie and his two Shepherd wooden boats. John was a member of the Alexandria Bay American Legion and Sigma Nu fraternity.
Besides his wife Sharon, he is survived by his children Tracey (Marc) Parent, East Windsor, CT, Thomas Huddleston, Milford, CT, and Lisa Huddleston, Tampa, FL, Sharon’s children, Hallie (Scott Fletcher) Snow, Spring Hill, FL, and Jon (Laura) Snow, Fisher’s Landing, NY, and three grandchildren, Kylie Snow, Tysons, VA, Erica Parent, Miramar, FL, and Ian Snow, Fisher’s Landing, NY. He was predeceased by a sister, Patsy Laemmerman and a former wife, Etta Mero.
Funeral services will be private.
Arrangements are with Costello Funeral Service & Cremations, Alexandria Bay.
