John William Hungerford Sr.

1930 - 2024

Past resident of Valley Center, and resident of Ocean Hills Country Club.

John passed away in his home on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024 at 3:16 p.m. at the age of 93, surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life Juliana, who passed away March 19, 2021.

John is survived by his son John W. Hungerford Jr., Laura Jean Hungerford, Debra Ann Cassidy, Jill Marie Hungerford, Cynthia Lynn Shain and Julie Joan Eade; along with their spouses, 14 Grandchildren and 27 Great grandchildren.

John was born in Oak Park, Illinois, on March 4, 1930. He was the second born of 8 children. His parents, Glen Elbert Hungerford & Jeanette Isabelle Billings, and his older sister Joan, as well as two of his other sisters, Joyce and Jerri, have already passed. He is survived by his brother Jim and sisters Donna Jean, Jackie, and Janet.

He lived in Cook County and then DuPage County Illinois, for many years, then moved to Colorado for five years and finally settled in California. John had an amazing life. He was always very active -- working, building/fixing his home, traveling, boating, fishing and water/snow skiing. John was always seeking how to better his life. He worked in the HVAC industry for decades, and worked his way up from a worker to President. He then started his own company and patented (x3) his own air distributing bars, called the air bar/flow bar, which is in many places around the U.S. including the Center for the Arts in Escondido, the Mormon Temple in San Diego, and the San Francisco Library.

He achieved so much throughout his life, and was loved by his entire family so much; he will be truly missed.

He rests now with his soulmate in Valley Center Cemetery.
