John Burton Hutsenpiller, Jr., 63, of Rainelle, West Virginia passed away on July 11, 2025, at White Sulphur Springs Center following a short illness. He was born January 13, 1962, to the late John Burton Hutsenpiller and Inez Blanche Hutsenpiller (Ratliff) in Cleveland, Ohio.

John was an EMT for West End Ambulance Service, a truck driver, and a mechanic. He also was a welder at the Newport News Shipyards. He graduated from Max Hayes Technical School where he became a master mechanic. John was a perfectionist and did everything at the slow steady pace of a turtle.

Those left to cherish the memories are his sisters Paula Cetera of Florida, JoAnn Kantor of Ohio, Sherry Murray (Robert) of Florida, Teresa Morgan (Michael) of South Carolina and Lucinda Hutsenpiller of Rainelle, West Virginia along with many nieces and nephews.

Services will be 1:00 pm Sunday July 20, 2025, at Wallace Memorial Mausoleum in Clintonville, West Virginia with pastor Greg Scott officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday July 19, 2025, from 3:00 pm-5:00 pm at Smathers Funeral Chapel, Rainelle, West Virginia.

Smathers Funeral Chapel is honored to have been entrusted to care for John and his family during their great time of need.

Always liked this guy, seeing this has brought tears to my eyes. I worked in Rainelle for a couple of years and he was a regular customer of mine. We could talk for hours sometimes. He had some great stories, whether they were all true or not, we always had a good talk and an even better laugh. I sold him a nice cigarette roller that he really enjoyed and I wonder now, if he was still using it. God rest your soul John. Two years might not seem like enough time to really know someone but this guy was a real good person, with all but the best intentions. Rest in peace.
