Celebration of Life for John "Jack" Conger age 89 of Neligh, Nebraska will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Pat Nields, officiating.
Burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Neligh, Nebraska with Military Rites conducted by Neligh American Legion #172 and VFW # 5287.
Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh.
Beyer Snider Memorial Funeral Home in Neligh are handling the arrangements. Jack passed away on January 30, 2024 at Avera Creighton Care Center in Creighton, Nebraska. Condolences may be directed to the family at www.beyersnidermemorialfh.com
John "Jack" Roy Conger was born on September 6, 1934, in Neligh, Nebraska, to Roy and Margaret (Connelly) Conger. After attending school in Neligh, Jack left to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
After the war, Jack graduated from Long Beach State. He joined his brother Jerry in Palos Verdes, California, to work in their Farmers Insurance Agency.
Eventually, Jack returned to his hometown of Neligh, where he served as the Dial-A-Ride driver for the City for many years. Additionally, he was an active member of the Rotary Club in Southern California, and a member of the St. Francis Church in Neligh. Jack also maintained a close connection with the recovery community as a friend of Bill W. and Dr. Bob for 44 years, 3 months, and 13 days.
Jack dedicated his life to helping others and sharing his wisdom from the Big Book. His impact on the lives of many individuals was profound, leaving a lasting impression that will continue to inspire and guide others. His legacy of service and compassion will be cherished and remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his daughter Sue Williams and Randy Marcove of Texas, and his two grandchildren, Danielle (Jack) Proskovec of Texas and Charley Williams of Florida.
Jack is preceded in death by Jolene Conger, his parents, sister Madelyn Rice and brothers, Jerry Conger and Pat Conger.
