LATHAM - John "Jack" Perry Sr., 90, of Latham, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born in Watervliet, the son of the late Charles and Clara (Thomas) Perry.
After graduating from high school, Jack served in the U.S. Army for four years. Following his time in the military, he worked for Capital City Container and later worked for the Town of Colonie for 20 years.
Jack loved his family unconditionally, always putting them first. Dad enjoyed family first betting on the ponies and was a devoted fan of the Yankees and the New York Giants. Dad loved music, especially Al Jolsen. Dad loved his Sunday trips to Jack's Hamburgers, Hot Dog Charlie's and ice cream stops during the summer.
Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Ruth (Barner) Perry; his godfather, Salvatore Prezio; his sisters, Dottie and Pauline; and brothers, Richard and George Perry Sr.
Jack is survived by his beloved son, John (Maureen) Perry Jr.; and beloved daughter, Jacqueline (Ken) Russell. He was the beloved grandfather of Bryan Russell and Cory Russell; and three great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brothers, David (Kathie) and Joseph Perry; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank their cousins, Jill, George and Dave, for all of their support and help; Community Hospice, including Joe and Gail; and his nurses.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to remember Jack may send a contribution to the Alzheimer's Association or the Rheumatoid Arthritis Association.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., with a funeral service to immediately follow at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at New Comer Cremations & Funerals, 181 Troy Schenectady Rd., Watervliet. Interment will follow at noon, at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, in Schuylerville.
