I was fortunate to be a member of Mr. Murray's 7th grade homeroom. Each day Mr. Murray's lectures exploded with innovative teaching techniques that captured the minds of his flock, even those most inflicted with 7th grade-itis. My favorite lesson showed up while learning about the solar system. With a grin from ear to ear he said he had a simple way to instill the names of the planets FOREVER using the following statement: Mary's Velvet Eyes Make John Stay Up Nights...PLUTO! At 81 I can still proudly name the planets with ease:
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, then he paused
and loudly said Pluto! With a smile on my face, love in my heart and memories of this extra ordinary gift of being a member of your flock, I thank you Mr. Murray.
Heartfelt condolences to your family and all who share their loss.

I first knew John when he was my 6th grade teacher and I was Judy Loveys. John attended all of the reunions of the class of 1959. Finally we were all residents of Shaker Pointe. He and Mary will be missed.

Jody and I send our sincere sympathies to the Murray family. He and Mary were long time friends of our families, and we have fond memories of our Schoharie school days with John.
