Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel & Crematory - Appleton on Feb. 16, 2024.
John Jacobson, a die-hard Packer fan, passed away all too soon after a brief illness at the young age of 63 on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, surrounded by family. John was a lifelong resident of Neenah, Wisconsin except for a few years that were spent in
Rockford, Illinois during his youth. He met the love of his life, Patty, one day as they both were out walking their dogs. They married on March 13, 2010, and spoiled several dogs together, including their current precious springer spaniel, Dagger.
One of John's proudest achievements was sobriety. He belonged to several supportive groups paying it forward as others started their own journey. On Packer Sundays, you could find John either at a game, or in his recliner cheering (or maybe yelling) at the television. He was big into music, even strumming his own guitar. John and Patty enjoyed attending various concerts around town, including Water Fest every summer. Aside from concerts, they went to the movies every week. John and Patty popped their tent at various campgrounds, went "up north" to see friends and take in nature and relax around campfires at home. They were members of St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Neenah, attending Sunday mass regularly.
John is survived by his wife Patty (Hanig) Jacobson; step-daughter April (Bill) Hershman; step-grandchildren Mackenzie Kropidlowski (fiancé Brett Possley), Eric Kropidlowski, and Nate Thompson-Hershman; siblings Sue (Duke) Bobilya, Thomas (Kathy) Jacobson, and Jeff Jacobson; numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He is also survived by a special group of people who continue to pledge their sobriety every day. John is preceded in death by his parents Paul Jacobson, Janie Jacobson Collipp and step-father Bob Collipp and brother Chris Jacobson.
It takes special people to care for the critically ill. John's family is forever grateful for the compassionate and high-quality care team at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Appleton: Wasana, Roger, Doug, Jenn, Daisha, Dr. Jensen and many others!
