John Martin "Johnny JJ" Johnson, passed away on February 8th, 2025, at the age of 74, in his son's home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Yancey County on February 10, 1950, Johnny loved to tinker to see how things worked and fix them if they didn't. He was a mechanic by trade and could fix most anything. When he was not tinkering, he enjoyed fishing and watching Westerns or The Three Stooges. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Johnson; brother, Douglas Johnson (Kathy); five children, Kelly Suttles, Wendy Wisor (Rick), Kevin Suttles (Betty), John Johnson (Mimi), Josh Johnson (Heather); nine grandchildren, Ricky Wisor (Delaney), Sierra Cox (Alex), Chelsea Fabbri (Justin), Kyle Cox, Jacob Suttles (Lexi), Christian Johnson (Jasmine), Tyler Johnson, Grayson Johnson, and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Morris Johnson and Alma Louise Johnson, and sisters, Irene "Sally" Deyton and Savanna Johnson.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm at Clinchfield United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the church with the Rev. Walter Pegues officiating. Burial will take place at Ballew Cemetery in Yancey County.
Flowers or monetary donations to Clinchfield United Methodist Church will be greatly appreciated.
