John Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Heritage Funeral Home - Harker Heights on Jan. 2, 2026.
John Thomas Johnson, 61, of Harker Heights passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025, surrounded by his family that loved him so deeply. John was born on October 15, 1964 in Orleans, France to his parents William Johnson and Louellen Johnson (Skipper). They were a military family, so he spent his childhood living in several areas, finally ending up in Harker Heights, Texas. Growing up some of his favorite things to do were riding dirt bikes, practicing Tae Kwan Do, and making music with his buddies. John could pick up any instrument and jam it like he had been playing it his whole life, his favorite being the guitar. Unfortunately, life isn't all leisure, and so John went to school and became an RN. He worked many years in the Emergency Room and toward the end of his career he worked in nursing homes taking care of those at the end of their life. He felt deeper than most, he truly cared about every single person that he ever encountered. He had a -ness about him that would make anyone smile. When he told stories, he was so animated, it was impossible to not be hypnotized by everything he said. John wore many hats, and he wore them well- but the one he wore the best was being a husband of 44 years to his high school sweetheart Cynthia Johnson. John and Cindy had a love like no other- true, deep, unconditional love. They enjoyed traveling, hiking with their two fur babies, Luna and Jimmy, making trails out at Dana Peak, and enjoying 99 cent tacos on Tuesdays. John also found joy in taking the babies to the dog park to be with their friends, he enjoyed the company as well. John was the best father to his two kids, Eric and Erin, and loved being a dad. A brilliant man that truly knew everything, had the solution to any problem, could fix anything that was broken, could create things out of nothing, a master of the universe. John is preceded in death by his father, William Johnson (1987) and his mother, Louellen Johnson (Skipper, 2015). He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Johnson, his son Eric Johnson (Christina Johnson) of Killeen, his daughter Erin Johnson (Luther Johnson) of Morgan's Point, his three grandchildren, Ariel, Nathan, and Max Johnson. His sisters Wilma Briggs (Dale Briggs) of Long Grove, IA, Penny Bullard (Dave Bullard) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Candy Agregaard (Eddie Agregaard) of D'Iberville, MS. John's service will be held Monday, January 5, 2026 – 10:00AM at Heritage Funeral Home in Harker Heights, followed by 11:30am graveside service at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Nolanville. John was a man like no other and will be missed forever.

Thank you for being my first piano teacher. Little did I know that that those sessions would be sooo helpful in the years to come. Cindy, Eric, and Erin, I´m so sorry that he left too soon. His passing has shifted everything but, he is never really gone. I pray that in the days to come you find peace in knowing he will never truly be gone because he is intwined in so many parts of your lives. Penny, Candy, and Mom I´m sorry that you have to lay your baby brother to rest. Through all of the grief and hurt I hope you all know that his memory is something that can´t be taken away. The 4 of you shared some the best and hardest moments in life, your sibling bond was and is one of the greatest parts of all of you. Love you all.
