John Lewis Jones passed to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at the age of 94. A long-time resident of NLR, Mr. Jones was born on December 17, 1930, to the late Nymph Jones and Grace Jones. He was a graduate of Russellville High School and was a proud Navy veteran having served his country for 4 years. Through this service he received the Navy Air Medal and a Gold Star.
He retired from Pitney-Bowes as a service technician in 1996 after being a loyal employee for 38 years. Mr. Jones was a man of great faith and attended church at Rose City Church of the Nazarene where he served as an usher, board member, and groundskeeper.
He was a very mechanically minded individual and was known for his skills when working on lawnmowers, clocks, and small engines. He helped an enormous amount of people through this skill. He also enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and hunting.
He was married to Cleva June Jones for 72 years and their union was one full of love and happiness. The example they set for their family will never be forgotten.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his son John, his son Ronald (Sylvia), and five grandchildren, Rachel, Julia Grace, Gabriela, William, and Evan who lovingly called him Bop. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edwin Jones.
The memorial service for Mr. Jones will be on Thursday, January 30th, at 11:00am, at the Smith Family North Little Rock Funeral Home followed by burial at Pinecrest Cemetery in Alexander.
