Donna Colclasure Obituary

Visit the Smith Family Funeral Homes - North Little Rock website to view the full obituary.

Donna was born in Kansas City and raised in North Little Rock. As the first of five children, her childhood was filled with love, laughter, and lifelong friendships, a bond that could never be broken. She was a proud graduate of Old Main, Class of 1980, where she formed many of the friendships she cherished throughout her life.

As a young adult, Donna enjoyed bowling, where she met the love of her life and husband of 40 years, Ron Colclasure. Together they built a life rooted in love, perseverance, and deep devotion to family.

Donna was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and “Mimi.” She fought every battle life placed before her with grit and determination, never giving up and never backing down. Through every challenge, she was surrounded by the steadfast love of her mother, father, husband, sisters, and brothers.

She found joy in the simple things, 32oz Ez-mart fountain cokes, digging her toes in the sand at the beach, crafts, shopping adventures, “seeing a man about a dog,” reading a good book, or watching her movies. As an HGTV enthusiast, she could even decorate an entire home without ever stepping inside. Donna loved to watch her family be happy, especially rolling dice for scratch offs, opening Christmas gifts, eating around the table, and even listening to an off-key karaoke performance of Pearl Jam. If there was one thing she was excited about, it was a good story no matter the source.

Above all, Donna’s greatest joy was her family. Whether gathering for holidays, spending days at the ballpark, taking trips to her mother’s or sisters’ homes, or sharing a simple phone call, she treasured every moment. Though the Lord only blessed her with one son, her heart expanded to include so many more, a beloved goddaughter, a cherished daughter-in-law, all her son’s friends, numerous nieces and nephews, children from the foster system, and two precious grandchildren affectionately known as “Her Little Man” and “Her Princess.”

She was welcomed into Heaven by her father, Willie Wickliffe, along with many friends, relatives, and in-laws.

She will be missed here on earth by: Her mother, Bea Wickliffe; Her siblings, Tony Wickliffe (Tracye), Robert Wickliffe, Karen Smith, and Tammy Carmical (Paul); Her devoted husband, Ron Colclasure; Her son, Michael Colclasure (Haley); Her goddaughter, April Wise (Joe); Her adopted son, Dalton Colclasure; Her nieces and nephews, Jacob (Courtney), Jarod (Sydney), Amanda (Holly), Nichole, Codi, Stephen, Hayden (Ashley), Logan, Seth (Emily), Rachel (Caroline), Aaron, Kyle, Monica, Laura (Josh); and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Marlyn Lee, a devoted friend; April Wise, the daughter she always wanted and loved deeply; Lili Hicks for her compassionate care; Uncle Boo for the many delicious meals; Uncle Robert for always lending a helping hand; Chuck Morgan, her “brother from another mother” and his willingness; Michelle and Scott of Home Health; and her beloved “Dummy” husband, but “Her Dummy” who stood beside her for 40 years. Her daughter-in-law, who remained by her side until the very end and who she passed her world off to.

A special Thanks to my Dad, My Memaw, My Aunt Karen, and My Aunt Tammy, for being her best friends for a lifetime. For being the first ones to hold her hand so she could hold mine.

Donna’s love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family will live on in all who knew her. She fought until the very end, and now she rests in peace, and healing.

A celebration of her life will be held at Morgan Full Gospel Church, 14806 Marche Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118, Saturday March 7, at 1:00 p.m.

-A poem for my Mom-

Even though the sun rose today without you in it,

it does not shine less on what you made.

Your footsteps have dwindled,

faded by the winds of life,

yet many have seen where they traveled.

Let me now take that path,

be the one who no longer follows.

May I walk your walk for you,

holding their hands

like you once held mine.

Let the little footsteps behind us

catch up beside us,

until the sun sets on me

one last time, as it did for you.
