Gregory Scott Colclasure, known affectionately as Scott to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2025, in
Evansville, IN, at the age of 69. Born on March 7, 1956, in Flora, IL, Scott was a man whose life was defined by the love he had for his family, his passion for woodworking, and his unwavering work ethic.
Scott grew up in the warm embrace of a large family, the son of the late Herman and Beulah Colclasure. He was a brother to Sonny, Bev, David, and Gene, all of whom predeceased him, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Scott's life was further enriched by the joy of his own children, Stephanie Colclasure and Tim Colclasure, who he shared with his loving wife, Cheryl Hall. His role as a grandfather to Marissa, Donovan, Dayana, Holly, Michael, Isabelle, and Trenton was one he cherished deeply, and his influence on their lives is an indelible part of their character. Scott also held a special place in the hearts of his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will remember him fondly for his kindness and gentle spirit.
Professionally, Scott was a skilled woodworker, a trade that not only provided for his family but also served as a canvas for his creativity and craftsmanship. His hands were rarely still, as he found joy in farming, fishing, and tinkering in his garage. Scott was also an adept mechanic, a talent that often came in handy for both family and friends. His association with fellow woodworkers and mechanics was not just about sharing skills but also about building a community based on mutual respect and camaraderie.
Scott's interests were a reflection of a man who loved to work with his hands and engage with the world around him. His love for woodworking was more than a hobby; it was a form of expression that allowed him to leave a tangible mark on the world. The pieces he created were not just objects of beauty but also symbols of the care and attention he put into every aspect of his life. Farming was another passion of Scott's, connecting him to the land and the cycles of nature, and providing a serene backdrop to his family's life.
Above all, Scott valued the time he spent with his family. Whether it was a quiet evening at home or a lively gathering with his grandchildren, he understood that these moments were the essence of a life well-lived. His legacy is not only in the works of wood he left behind but in the love, he fostered in his family, the wisdom he imparted, and the laughter he shared.
Gregory Scott Colclasure's journey through life was marked by the simple, honest pleasures of a life devoted to family, work, and community. As we bid farewell to Scott, we celebrate a life that was full of purpose, joy, and love. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
