Mildred Hardin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Powell Funeral Home of Woodruff County on Feb. 25, 2026.
Mildred Morgan Hardin, Age 104, of Augusta, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026. She was born on August 18, 1921 in Tupelo, Arkansas, to Ed and Hazel Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Joe Cecil Hardin, and her grandson George Paul Eldridge III.

After graduating from Newport High School in 1939, Mildred began working at the Newport Air Base. Answering the call to serve her country, she later traveled by train to Washington, D.C., where she worked at the Pentagon in support of the World War Il effort. Upon returning home, she married Captain Joe Hardin, and together they raised their family in Augusta, Arkansas. Mildred was a faithful member of Augusta First United Methodist Church and devoted member of her PEO Chapter L Sisterhood. She found joy in gardening, playing bridge, and traveling. Above all, her greatest joy was being in the company of her family and friends.

She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Haley (Harvey Haley, deceased) of North Little Rock, Arkansas and Joan Arrington (Michael Berger) of Luling, Louisianna; and son, Jim Hardin (Jamie) of Newport, Arkansas; her grandchildren, Katherine Eldridge (John Via), Joanna Arrington, Larry Arrington (Caitlyn), Zack Arrington (Helen), Caroline Chang (Kae), Erin Harnedy (Jack); and great-grandchildren, Leia Peek (Dalton), Adam Edmonson, Elizabeth, Madeleine, Noelle, Evanne, Alec, and Elise.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Augusta First United Methodist Church in Augusta, Arkansas.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Augusta First United Methodist Church at 301 South 3rd Street, Augusta, Arkansas.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Lakewood Nursing & Rehab Center in North Little Rock for the kind and loving care shown to Mildred.
