John P. Kelly
1949-2025
Died on Saturday, January 25, at home surrounded by family.
John was a life-long resident of Rochester but a world traveler along with his wife Meg (Margaret) Gossin Kelly. He graduated from St. John the Evangelist School in 1963, McQuaid Jesuit High School in 1967, and SUNY Brockport in 1971. He married Meg in 1979 and settled in West Irondequoit.
While sampling several career paths, his main employment was as an inspector for the New York Public Employee Safety and Health (PESH) Bureau from which he eventually retired.
John was a keen traveler visiting numerous worldwide locales ranging from Europe to Australia and many places in between. Much of that travel was by air but he also enjoyed river cruises. His athletic pursuits included hockey, baseball, sailing, and most avidly skiing which led him to buy a ski condominium in Killington, Vermont.
He was a devoted reader, in particular of non-fiction such as history and biography.
His other long-time love was dogs including Blarney, Seamus, and Roisin whom he indulged in long walks, swimming, and ball fetching.
He leaves his wife Meg, his brother Jim and wife Carol, his brothers-in-law Michael and Bill, Michael's wife Sue, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His memorial service will be Saturday February 8th, at 10am at Spiritus Christi Church 121 Fitzhugh St. North.
