John Raymond Kemp

John Raymond Kemp, 66, loving husband of 39 years to Eugenie Kemp, passed away Monday April 3, 2023 while surrounded by his family.
Born in Baton Rouge, LA, he was a son of the late James and Lula McLeod Kemp.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Tara Smith and husband, Chad, Derek Bleyle, and Meredith Chen; three grandchildren, Christian Wagner, Gabriela Chen, and Adriana Chen; one sister, Susan Kemp; and three brothers, Jim Kemp and wife, Rhonda, Jack Kemp and wife, Sukyo, and Charlie Kemp.
John was a veteran of the Marines, was an avid cook and grill master and was a lifelong lover and fan of all things LSU. He was a history buff, an epic storyteller, and had numerous hobbies that he loved including fishing, coin collecting, model building, gardening, and attending various sporting events.
John never met a stranger and his infectious laugh and sense of humor will be missed by all.
A visitation will be held Saturday April 15, 2023 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast followed by the memorial service at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or Veteran's Association of America.
