John Kolo Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ritchay Funeral Home - Wisconsin Rapids on Dec. 27, 2025.
John A. Kolo, age 72, peacefully passed away in his home in Wisconsin Rapids on Thursday, December 25, 2025 from his battle with cancer. He passed away with his wife, Roberta "Bobbie" by his side, along with his closest friends and family.
Following John's wishes there will be no formal funeral services held. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
John was born on November 9, 1953 at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. Wisconsin Rapids is where he spent his early years "growing up" and went on to graduate from Lincoln High School. John was very handy, which is why he worked in maintenance for most of his life in central Wisconsin and in Colorado, where he lived for several years. John decided to come back to his hometown and worked for McCain foods in the maintenance department. This is where he met the love of his life, Bobbie. They were married on March 8, 2002 in Jamaica (One of their favorite destinations). John and Bobbie spent the last 25 years doing everything under the sun together. John spent much of his time on Lake Nokomis (John and Bobbie's second home). John had many interests, including hunting with his brothers, nephews, and good friends, Travis and Rob. He also enjoyed ice fishing, motorcycling, snowmobiling and spending time in his garage (a lot of time!). That is where family and friends knew they would find him right away. He enjoyed working on motorcycles with his nephews, especially his great-nephew, Cody. They enjoyed working on projects together and hanging out. He spent summers at their trailer on Lake Nokomis and spent many hours on the pontoon relaxing with Bobbie, Jim and Diane, and many good friends (the Tomahawk Crew)!
John is survived by his wife, Bobbie Kolo; children, Amy (Brian) Elmhosrt, Josh (Laura) Kolo, Patrick Myhaver, Dustin (Sarah) Myhaver, and Lyndsey (CJ) Myhaver; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Sharon Kobishop; brothers, Garry (Brenda) Kolo, Jim (Diane) Kolo, and Tom (Kim) Kolo; step-brother, Shane Frostman; stepmother, Carol Kolo; and well as many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents, James and Patricia Kolo; sister Tracy Janes; and in-laws, Dick and Faye Bruley.
The Kolo family would like to thank the entire staff at the Aspirus Cancer Center and Compassus Hospice, especially his nurse Courtney for their kindness and care of John and the entire Kolo family.
