John Paul Krista age 81 of Rocky Mount passed away on Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was born June 17, 1944 to the late John G. and Noella R. Krista. He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 34 years, Shirley Anne Carr Krista; brothers, Robert M. Krista, Alan A. Krista; and sister, Diane K. Burton.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Gaynell Angle Krista; children, Michael Carr Krista (Tina), Cynthia Anne Hayes; stepson, Andrew S. Carr, Timothy W. Carr (Brianna); grandchildren,Tyler B. Krista (Erika), Mikaela Krista Updike (Shane), Hannah R. Krista, Nicole Krista Hayes; step grandchildren, Xavier W. Carr (Kadence Cox), Mila B. Carr, Lyra V. Carr, Marcus B. Clark (Samara Ollman); great-grandchildren, Kylie K. Jacobs, Waylon J Updike, Scarlett J. Updike, Baby Everleigh J. Updike; step-great-grandchildren, Ember Clark, Ryker McKay, Ryland Meza, Revely Meza; other family members, sister-in-law, Amy G. Krista; brother and sister-in-law, Garry and Barbara Angle; step-nephew, Jonathan W. Angle (Kassandra and baby daughter, Georgia A. Angle); and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted 12 PM Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at Conner-Bowman Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, VA with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 11 AM.
