John A. "Jack" Krol, former chairman and CEO of DuPont, passed away on October 31, 2025, in Bonita Springs, Florida, at the age of 89.

Born in Ware, Massachusetts, Jack attended Tufts University on a Naval ROTC scholarship, earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees in chemistry. He served under Admiral Hyman Rickover in the U.S. Navy, contributing to the development of the Navy's nuclear fleet.

He later began his 35-year career with DuPont as a chemist and rose through the ranks to become chairman and CEO in 1995.

Jack served on several corporate boards, including Tyco International, Delphi Automotive, JPMorgan, and Bechtel, and was a trustee of both Tufts University and the University of Delaware. Dedicated to education and community service, he chaired the United Way of Delaware and the Governor's Initiative for Education Reform, helping to advance Delaware's charter school system. He supported Catholic Charities, the Ministry of Caring, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware. He also served as president of the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science and as chair of the Business Roundtable's Education Initiative.

Passionate about finding a cure for a disease close to his heart, Jack dedicated countless hours to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, specifically CureLGMD2i-raising funds, collaborating with doctors and advocates worldwide, and never giving up hope.

Jack received numerous honors, including Corporate Director of the Year, the Henry Ford III Business Leadership Award, the Delaware Governor's Award for Community Service, and induction into the Delaware Business Hall of Fame.

An avid golfer, Jack took pride in having played the top 100 courses in the U.S. Above all, he cherished his family-spending time together boating, traveling, and making memories wherever they went. He lived life to the fullest and never met a person he didn't like. He brought out the best in everyone around him and never forgot a name.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Janet; daughters Cindy Miller (Justin) and Debbie Trerotola (Dave); grandchildren Tyler (Laura) and Connor Trerotola, Kyra (Mac) Donahue and Braden Miller; brother Bob Krol (Nora); sister Marion Feasel (Harry); brother-in-law Wesley Briand; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Alphonse and Mildred Krol; in-laws Gordon and Ruth Valley; and sisters-in-law Janice Boissy, Connie Briand and brother, Chet Krol.

A life well-lived, a soul well-loved, now at rest with the Lord.

Private services were held by the family.
