John G. LaBrecque
Biddeford
John Gerard LaBrecque, 54, of
Biddeford, Maine peacefully passed away at Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland on December 23, 2023 after a valiant fight against esophageal cancer.
John was born on December 03, 1969 at Webber Hospital in Biddeford to his parents Gerard "Jerry" LaBrecque and Karen LaBrecque (Camire). He graduated from Biddeford High School in 1988. He went on to do naval training until he was hired by the Navy Yard in Kittery. He worked there until 2018. He was employed with C.N. Brown in Kennebunk until his passing.
He met the love of his life, Shara LaBrecque (Herrick), in 1999 while at one of his father's music gigs at the Rochambeau Club in Biddeford. John proposed to Shara over the phone while on a work trip to
San Diego, California. He said, "Guess where I was today?" Shara responded, "Where?" He said, "A jewelry store." He proceeded to ask her to marry him and the rest was history. They got married on June 17, 2006 at the Laurel Hill Chapel in Saco.
John loved sports, including his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. He was always on top of the latest computer technology, enjoyed playing video games, especially with his brother David, and was a huge music enthusiast. He cherished time with family, including long night chit-chats at his mom and dad's house, dining out at many local restaurants, and staycations with Shara. Perhaps, his favorite hobby was teasing those he loved. He had an infectious sense of humor and invoked so much laughter from those around him.
It meant the world to him to become a grandfather. He loved talking to his grandkids Scarlett and Ambrose on FaceTime and seeing them on trips to North Carolina.
John was predeceased by his father, Gerard "Jerry" LaBrecque. He was also predeceased by his grandparents Marguerite LaBrecque (LeBrun) and Joseph LaBrecque and Maxine Camire (Chandler) and Roland Camire, and his uncle Richard "Dick" LaBrecque.
He is survived by his wife of 17 wonderful years Shara LaBrecque (Herrick), his mom Karen LaBrecque (Camire), his children Ryan Fecteau and his partner Dylan and Mariah Dunn (Fecteau) and her husband Noah, his grandkids Scarlett and Ambrose Dunn, his daughter Alicia LaBrecque, his brother David LaBrecque and his sister-in-law Crystal Nadeau-Parks, his godson and nephew Camden LaBrecque, his mother-in-law Nancy Tardif (Perrigo), his sister-in-law Vicki Patterson (Herrick), his brother-in-law Robert Herrick, many aunts and uncles, many nephews and a niece, and numerous cousins.

The family, especially Shara, would like to express immense gratitude to the care team at Mercy Hospital, including its president, Charlie Therrien, who personally visited with John and Shara. The team at Mercy went above and beyond to provide John with the best care. John was surrounded by love and laughter on December 23. He was joking, recalling stories of yesteryear, and enjoying the presence of family. He walked into the light at the end of what John would have considered precious moments with family-the most important to him throughout his life.
