John J. Lambert, a long-time resident of Tallahassee and Westminster Oaks, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2024, after a brief illness. He leaves his beloved wife, Mary Rose (Keegan)
Lambert after 52 years of marriage. He also leaves his nieces, Jeanne and Maureen Haraczy,
Barbara (David) Waples and Sharon (Chuck) Bond and four "adopted grandchildren", Robbie,
Jessica, Kate and Bella and his good friend Woody.
John was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and educated in parochial schools. He received his
B.A. in history from De La Salle and a Masters Degree from Manhattan College in American
History and Constitutional Law. John taught high school honors American History in Brooklyn,
New York and Providence, Rhode Island for several years and then joined Houghton Publishing
Company as an educational sales representative in Pennsylvania and Florida, retiring in 1987.
John and Mary Rose then founded Lambert Educational Systems, a company that primarily
served the High School Special Education market (ESE). He retired for a second time in 2001.
John was an incorrigible Tallahassee Democrat Zinger with over 500 Zings published. He was
a member of Killearn Country Club and enjoyed golfing with the "Sunday Swingers" for many
years.
A memorial mass will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 14, 2025,
at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in John's memory can be made to the Good Shepherd Building
Fund at 4665 Thomasville Road Tallahassee, Florida 32309.
