John Lee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Crawford Family Funeral & Cremation Service - Edmond on Feb. 24, 2026.
John Edward Lee III, affectionately known as John, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born on January 25, 1951, in Wilmington, Delaware, John's life journey was marked by his profound intelligence, wisdom, and kindness, traits that endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

John's academic pursuits were nothing short of remarkable. After graduating from the School of Mines in Colorado, he went on to attend Law School at the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated at the top of his class. This stellar foundation paved the way for a successful career as a Petroleum Engineer, where he spent a lifetime traveling overseas, and later, as an esteemed Attorney representing the oil and gas industry. His professional achievements were a testament to his dedication and expertise in his field.

Beyond his professional life, John's heart was deeply rooted in his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Sedbrook Lee, and leaves behind a legacy through his children and grandchildren. His daughter Melissa, and her husband Josh Firestone; his son, D. Scott, and wife Casi Sedbrook; his cherished granddaughter Helen Firestone; Bradford Sedbrook, Sommer Tyrrell, Christopher Scott Sedbrook, Kimberly Reid, and Dalton Jones, along with great-grandchildren, will all hold dear the memories they shared with him. John also leaves behind a brother, a sister, and many other family members and friends, who will miss his presence greatly.

John was a man of many interests, each reflecting his appreciation for the great outdoors and the simple pleasures of life. His love for his dog children, especially Buddy, was well known. He found solace and joy in going to the cabin to fly fish, a pastime that allowed him to embrace the tranquility of nature. An avid hunter, he loved the thrill of the chase and respected the beauty of the wilderness. Golfing was another of John's passions, providing him moments of challenge and camaraderie on the green. Above all, John cherished the time spent with his grandkids and family, especially with Scott, whom he often referred to as "The son he never had."

John's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, commitment, and adventure. He navigated the complexities of life with a steady hand and a gentle heart, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew him. As we say "See You Soon" to John, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with purpose, passion, and love. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will forever be a source of comfort and joy for his loved ones.
