John Lembesis

John Michael Lembesis, known to all as "Pop", 91 of Harrisburg, left this world to join the love of his life of 70 years, Saturday, February 27, 2021 in the loving care of his family. Born on April 22, 1929 in Chora, on the island Andros, Greece, to Michael and Olga Lembesis. He is survived by his daughters, Maria Logan, Olga Lembesis Battista, Sophia Nelms and Joanna Lembesis, thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great- grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and sisters Smaro and Litsa of Greece. He is predeceased by his loving wife Julia, only son Michael, infant daughter Evangelia, great grandson Joey, brother Zannis and sister Haido. John came to the United States in 1948 during the brother against brother civil war in Greece with the hopes of new opportunities to help his family. He was introduced to Julia in 1949 and married a week later, beginning their life together. He was a well-respected painting contractor in Harrisburg, owned hardware stores, assisted his daughters with their businesses, and loved playing cards and horses. But if you knew him, you could tell that his most important accomplishment was his family. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 3rd at 11:30 AM at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011 with Rev. Fr. Michael E. Varvarelis officiating. Family and friends are invited to view from 10:30 AM until time of the service at the church. Burial will follow in East Harrisburg Cemetery, Harrisburg.
