Florence Lembesis

Florence Josephine Lembesis (nee Patterson) was called to rest with God on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at the age of 92.
The only child of George and Margaret (Barrigan) Paterson, Florence dedicated the majority of her life caring for her beloved parents.
A graduate of Poughkeepsie High School, she quickly found employment at IBM at an entry level and over her forty-year career, worked her way to senior secretary.
While working at IBM, Florence met John, the love of her life. After knowing each other for several years, they married late in life, sharing love and companionship for ten short years before his death in 2015.
Florence enjoyed the simple things in life, dressing up to go to dinner, spending time with good friends, and reminiscing about the old days. She became the unofficial Patterson-Barrigan family historian, sharing sometimes sad, sometimes amusing, but always loving family stories which she treasured throughout life.
She was a voracious reader and immensely enjoyed solving word puzzles. Florence had a great talent for composing original and meaningful poetry and made many people smile with poems written just for them.
She always looked on the bright side and drew strength from her faith of one day joining all of her loved ones again, in heaven. She was extremely grateful for all those who came into her life.
Special thanks to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital nurses and aids on Cooke Floor 6, as well as those in the Eleanor Rehab Center who demonstrated kindness and compassion.
She leaves behind three stepsons, George, Peter and Anthony. Anthony was especially appreciated for is kindness and caring, stepping up to help in any capacity.
A viewing for friends and family will be held at Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 rom 4pm to 6pm. A mass of Christian burial will be held at Saint Martins De Porres Catholic Church, on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at 9:30am, with the burial to follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
