He was born on June 3, 1940 in Chicago, IL to John F. Leon, Sr and Margaret (nee: Untied) Leon.
John married Margaret Filipp in Clayton, MO on March 10, 1977.
The loving husband, father and grandfather retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation after 21 years of service as a highway maintainer. He enjoyed reading novels, especially murder and mystery novels. John enjoyed being outside working in his garden and mowing the lawn. He was an avid car fan, especially liking the Lincolns.
John is survived by his wife; a daughter, Debra (Scott) Zwicker of Spring Grove, IL; a son, John F. Leon III and his wife, Cindi, of Nauvoo, IL; 5 grandchildren: Diane (Justin) Kristich, Jake Leon, Cody Leon, Kyle Zwicker and Claire Zwicker and a great granddaughter, Lana Leon.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
