In Loving Memory of John Michael Leone
Born November 17, 1944 – Passed June 30, 2025
John Michael Leone, age 80, of Pensacola, Florida, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with dementia.
Born in Denver, Colorado, in 1944, John lived a life built on faith, family, and hard work. He proudly served in the United States Navy for four years, and carried that sense of duty and discipline throughout his life. He retired after 30+ years with International Paper, where he was known for his hard work and dependability.
A devout Catholic, he was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he volunteered regularly and found great purpose in serving his church community.
John was married to the love of his life, Donna, for 58 years. Together they raised three children, Neala Daughtry (Mark), Mindy Murray (Kevin) and Chad Leone and built a family grounded in love and enduring values. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, Makenzie Daughtry, Bailey Wiggins (John), Darby Murray and Delaney Murray, who brought him immeasurable joy and who will carry forward his spirit in countless ways.
A man of many talents and boundless energy, John had a passion for working with his hands, feeling most at home with a tool in hand and a project underway. He found peace and pride in carpentry, tinkering with machinery, and landscaping. His meticulously maintained lawn was a source of pride and a reflection of his care and attention to detail.
John is also survived by his brother, Monsignor Ken Leone, and was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Rozella Leone, and his sister, Donna Overholt.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church (401 Van Pelt Lane, Pensacola, Florida 32505) on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in John's honor to Hospice, in gratitude for their compassionate care.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, is entrusted with arrangements. You may express condolences online at www.fcfhs.com.
