John Lesane Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory - Downtown Suffolk on Dec. 13, 2022.
John David Lesane, Retired Command Sergeant Major, husband of Haydee Annette Lesane, of Hampton, Virginia, entered into rest to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at Sacred Journey Hospice, Newnan Ga. John was born on August 17, 1953 to Lillian Stewart and Willie Junior Lesane in Red Springs, North Carolina. He was the second of their 3 children. John is preceded in death by his father Willie Junior Lesane.
John was a committed husband, father, brother, uncle, grandad and friend who will forever be cherished and dearly missed. He leaves to cherish fond loving memories with Haydee Annette, his loving wife of thirty-four years, 3 amazing children son John D. Lesane ll, son James W. Richardson, and daughter Jocelyn A. Lesane and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren.
After John graduated from Pembroke Senior High School in 1971, he joined the United States Armed Forces at the age of 18 and committed himself to the highest standards with full honor for the United States Army for 30+ years. He earned the highest rank of Command Sergeant Major and received numerous military awards and decorations with true dedication.
In 2006, John retired and enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, pampering his favorite antique cars, fixing & repairing things, old western movies, peanut butter crackers and bananas, and enjoyed his peaceful time working on the yard.
John loved the Lord, he was a praying man, a devoted church member, a humble person who would help without hesitation. He was intelligent, kind and a giving person and lovingly called "Buddy". He would call us "Hero", but he was our biggest hero and now our guardian angel.
John leaves behind his loving mother (Lillian Lesane), siblings (Willie Mae and Kathleen), wife (Haydee Lesane), children (John David, James, and Jocelyn), Grandchildren (Kelsey, Tiffany, Alycia, Gabrielle, Julian, Eric, and Gabriel) great grandchildren, in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at 1:30 PM in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Downtown Suffolk Chapel. Burial will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to be given to Centurion Interdenominational Church, 61 Bernard Road, Fort Monroe, Virginia 23651. Condolences may be offered at RWBakerFH.com.
