John Leschisin Obituary

Published by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels from Mar. 21 to Mar. 23, 2008.
Leschisin, John Age 88, of NE Mpls, passed away peacefully in his home on 3/18/08. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Valorie, and infant daughter Betty. Also preceded by siblings George, Helen, Peter, Mary, and an infant sister. He is survived by children John (Jean West), Barbara Weber (Jack); 4 grandchildren, Eric, Corrie Schmidt, Lauren and Matthew Weber; siblings Katherine Dzubay, Olga, Ann Hovila, Bill; many nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Clayton, WI and served 4 years in WWII as a Staff Sergeant in North Africa and Italy with the 34th Infantry. He moved to Mpls following the war and worked for Northstar Woolen Mills before working in product development for Hypro Pumps. During his 30+ years there he created a patented design that helped solidify his company. He never minded going to work and loved his job. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a very active member of VFW Post 5555. His simple, unwavering belief in God helped define his life. He loved to talk politics, but was especially fond of his MN Twins. John had a strong love for his country, and believed in the value of hard work. He always taught us to appreciate what we have. His favorite times were spent at the cabin he built with his brother George, enjoying family and friends. We will miss his laughter when we are together, and his wisdom. We will hold our memories and his spirit closely. He can now be with his wife, Valorie, for one more dance. Visitation Monday, March 24, 2008, 5 to 8 pm at Washburn-McReavy, 2901 Johnson St. NE Mpls. Funeral Tuesday, March 25, 2008, 11:00 am, Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, 1701 St. Anthony Parkway, NE Mpls, Visitation 1 hour prior. Memorials preferred to Minnesota Military Family Foundation or Mt. Carmel Church Foundation. Washburn-McReavy Northeast Chapel 612-781-6828

It's been a tough week for Hypro, losing Al, John, and Don. They were all three good men, like most of the old Hypro bunch. Each, in his own way, helped teach me about manufacturing, but even more about life. John's sunny disposition and positive outlook were unwavering--it brings a smile to face just to think about him. I love the photo posted on his notice--I didn't know that John ever had hair! I won't be able to be there on Tuesday, but I'll stop for the visitiation tonight. My deepest sympathies to all John's family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of John. John and my father Donald worked together at Hypro. We heard of your father frequently. If you go down a few names in this obituary you will find Donald Lonergan, my father, and Johns friend. My deepest sympathies to you and your family. Brenda
