John P. Lewis, 75, of Keansburg, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on, Saturday, September 17th, at home. He was born and raised in The Bronx, lived in Georgia, moved to Middletown in 1998, prior to moving to Keansburg 4 years ago. John served in the US Marine Corp from 1965-1969 during Vietnam. He graduated from South Eastern Technical Institute for Refrigeration and worked for Conrail. John was a member of the VFW Post 2179 in Port Monmouth and 4303 in Hazlet, a member of the American Legion Post 515 of Port Monmouth, and the Vietnam Veteran of America Chapter 721. He also was a member of Philip K. Dorn. John and his brother Nick formed the Doo-Wop group called The Bronx Boys where they made fond memories singing beside each other. John was an avid Yankees and Giants fan, he collected baseball cards, coins and enjoyed ordering online. John had the biggest heart, he loved being with family and enjoyed spending time with the grand kids. John was pre-deceased by his parents, John P. Lewis and Nancy Altisi; his two brothers, Nicholas W. Lewis and Richard Lewis. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Pat Lewis of Keansburg; two sons, John Lewis of New York and Patrick Lewis of South Amboy; four daughters and sons in-law, Kelly Lewis of Keansburg, Nancie and Will Jusino of Florida, Maureen Lewis of Keansburg and Tara and Chris Hoth of Middletown and 13 grandchildren who he loved very much; many nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects for a Memorial Service on Sunday, September 25th, from 2-4pm, at the Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals 233 Carr Ave. Keansburg.
