John H. Lewis, age 80, of Coopers Plains, passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Guthrie Corning Hospital. He was born on February 15, 1944 in Corning, the son of the late Harold and Mary (Pierri) Lewis.
John enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles, and IDPA shooting and shotgun competition. He enjoyed watching eagles soar, he had a routine that he liked to follow and he liked meeting up with his coffee buddies. John was a bus driver with Smith Bus Company for the Corning-Painted Post School District and he also was an installer for Time Warner Cable.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Richard J. (Ellie) Lewis of Gillett, Pa, Kelly (Larry) Smith of Painted Post, Brian (Heidi) Lewis of Corning, and Rebecca (Richard) Lathrop of Gillett, Pa, several great nieces and great nephews, 7 great great nieces, and aunts, uncles and cousins. John was predeceased by his brother, Richard V. Lewis.
It was John's wish that there be no formal services.
A private interment will take place at Fairview Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers those wishing may make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital by going to stjude.org or ones local animal shelter or SPCA.
