John Terry Linkous ObituaryJohn "Terry" Linkous, 76 of Sun City, AZ and formerly Pylesville, MD passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in Boswell Transitional Care of Cascadia in Sun City, AZ. He was the beloved husband of Camille Damon Linkous for almost 16 years. Born May 9, 1948 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Thomas Pryor and Grace Eugene (Thomas) Linkous. Terry graduated from North Harford High School in Pylesville, MD in June 1966. After graduation he attended Harford Community College, while still assisting his father in the daily operations of their dairy farm. After completing 2 years of study, he was employed by Commercial and Savings Bank in Bel Air, MD where he helped transition the bank to a computer run operation. Continuing with his career in banking, he later worked for Equitable Trust Company and Mercantile Bank in Baltimore, MD. In 1978, he moved the family to Florida when he accepted a position with Atlantic Bancorp in Jacksonville. He later accepted a position with Western Bancorp in Phoenix, AZ and in February of 1980 arrived in Mesa, AZ. Except for a brief time in New Mexico he continued to reside in AZ.
His career changed from banking to state government when he became an Assistant Director of Information Systems with the AZ Department of Transportation. He remained a state employee until his retirement in 2005. After his retirement, he accepted a position with the Judicial Branch of the Chief Justice in Window Rock, AZ. It was while working on the Navajo Nation that he met his soon-to-be wife Camille Damon. They were married in July 2009.
Terry and Camille moved to Gallup, New Mexico where they became very active in the United Methodist Church and the Lion's Club. He worked for a company that aids children with special needs before returning to Sun City, AZ in April 2013.
Terry is survived by a brother Michael Thomas Linkous (Mary) of New Park, PA; 4 sons: Tommy Dean Linkous (Anita)of Sydney, Australia, Dennis Terry Linkous (Candi) of Woodbridge, VA, Todd Aaron Linkous (Lisa) of Phoenix, AZ, and Dale Eugene Linkous (Marcelle) of Show Low, AZ; 7 grandchildren: Austin Linkous, Karrigan Linkous Bell, Sierra Linkous, SPC/E4 Cody Linkous, Asher Linkous, Ava Linkous, and Zara Linkous; a great grandson-Dayton Bell and the mother of his sons, Donna Baker Stawicki. In addition, 2 step-daughters: CaraMia K. Begay of Albuquerque, NM & Aften L. DeLaCruz of Scottsdale, AZ; 3 step grandchildren: Jordan Begay, Aaliyah J. Begay, and Kale Begay; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Terry was also predeceased in death by a sister Opal Linkous Blair (Stan); a brother Thomas Vernon Linkous (Margaret) and Howard Blaine Linkous (Shirley.)
Memorial services will be held at Desert Garden United Church of Christ in Sun City West, AZ on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Pennsylvania services are under the care of Harkins Funeral Home with a date and time for the east coast service to be determined. Final resting place will be in the Fawn Grove Cemetery with his parents.
