John H. Longfellow

John H. Longfellow, age 87, of Spencer, Indiana passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington. He was born on July 9, 1936 in Kokomo, Indiana the son of Glen and Vivian (Long) Longfellow.
John had worked in banking for several years before retiring and was EVP at Peoples State Bank. He married Diana Willibey on December 23, 1992 in Spencer, Indiana and they shared 30 wonderful years together. John was a member of the Spencer Church of Christ and Masonic Lodge. He loved spending time with his wife and traveling together. John was an avid golfer and loved anything outdoors water related including, swimming, boating and fishing.
John is survived by his loving wife, Diana Longfellow; two sons, John "Chip" Longfellow and Rodney Longfellow; four step-daughters, Shana Diekhoff (Tony), Stephanie Miller (Jack), Shelby Teasley (Bill) and Shara Duncan (Grant); eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Thomas Longfellow, sister Wanita New, and two grandsons Wesley Longfellow and Jake Chitwood.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at the Spencer Church of Christ with Gary Fiscus officiating. Burial will follow at Chambersville Cemetery in Spencer.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Owen County Humane Society or the Spencer Church of Christ.
