John Paul Lovelace, 61, of Maple Fork, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2023.
He was born on April 5, 1962, in Alexandria, VA, to Ruby Lillian Ellison
Riley and the late Paul McCoy Lovelace.
John was a dedicated member of the Sprague Freewill Baptist Church and had a strong sense of community. He served as a member of the Bradley Prosperity Volunteer Fire Department, Coal City Volunteer Fire Department, and Pax Fire and Rescue.
One of John's greatest passions was hunting. He found solace in spending time outdoors. In addition to hunting, he had a deep love for music and was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins. He also pursued his creative side by writing a children's book, although it remained unpublished.
John was preceded in death by his father and also by his nephew Chad Lovelace; great niece, Rileigh Elizabeth Turner and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Steve and Carol Holley Markham
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 27 years, Lisa Rena Markham Lovelace; son Christopher P. Lovelace of Parkersburg, WV; mother, Ruby Ellison Riley, and her husband Dave, "Special Bonus Dad " of Beckley; sister, Suzanne Bragg and her husband, Allen, of Piney View; brother, Dean Lovelace and his wife, Sarah, of Oak Hill, W. Va., brother, Kenny Riley and his wife, Bridget, of Cool Ridge, W. Va.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023, at the Calfee Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Fred Lovell and Skee Barley will officiate the ceremony. Following the service, burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Family and friends are invited to visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Friday.
