John Lowe Obituary

John Adams Lowe Jr. died on February 15, 2014 at Bridges Assisted Living in Westford, MA. Mr. Lowe was born in Winchester, MA on November 24, 1918. He grew up in Roslyn NY and later in Rochester NY, and graduated from Williams College in Williamstown, MA in 1940. He served in the armed forces during World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. He worked for Bausch & Lomb Optical Company for over 40 years until his retirement in 1984. He married Emily (Marchant) Lowe on February 3, 1951. They lived in Newington CT and Needham MA before retiring to Brooksby Village in Peabody MA in 2005. Son of the late John and Edith Lowe, Mr. Lowe was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Emily in 2006. He is survived by his children John Adams Lowe, III of Stonington CT, Emily Hall and her husband Stephen of Lockport NY, and Russell Lowe and his wife Pamela of Acton MA; and his grandchildren Christopher Hall and his wife Lindsey, Amy Utz and her husband Michael, and Brian, Peter and David Lowe; and his great-grandchildren Kyle and Ellice Hall and Alex Utz. Mr. Lowe devoted his life to raising his family and working in the community, especially at the Congregational Church in Newington and Needham. His was a life of joy, faith and service. Visiting hours will be held in the Eaton Funeral Home on Highland Avenue in Needham on Wednesday, February 19th from 5-7 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Congregational Church of Needham, 1154 Great Plain Ave, Needham on Thursday February 20th at 11:00 AM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Williams College Alumni Fund, 75 Park Street, Williamstown MA 01267.
