John R. Lynch, 55, passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, with his wife by his side. John was born on September 14, 1969, in Marion, to John R. Lynch and Dorothy (Rentfrow) Swingle. He spent most of his life living in Upland, and graduated from Eastbrook in 1988. John was a machinist at Chrysler in Kokomo for 11 years. He married the love of his life, Michelle (Schmidt) Lynch, on November 19, 2011.
John was a man of many passions. He loved the great outdoors, often spending his time four-wheeling and camping, or tending to his yard with great care. A late lover of travel, he rode the Hatfield and McCoy trails in West Virginia and ventured to destinations such as California, Las Vegas, and the Grand Canyon, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family, particularly enjoying spoiling his beloved grandchildren.
An avid sports fan, John was a devoted supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles and the Denver Broncos, following their games with enthusiasm. His gentle spirit and unwavering love for his family and friends will be sorely missed.
John is survived by his mother, Dorothy Swingle, Gas City; wife, Michelle Lynch, Marion; daughter, Alexander (Brandon) Rude, Upland; son, Chandler Lynch, Upland; step-children, Kaitlyn (Chris) Lorando, Marion; Shelby Overbey, Marion; and Levi (Alicia) Overbey, Marion; brothers, Terry (Jill) Lynch and Robert Lynch; sister, Peggy Stephenson; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful furry friends, his dog Ruger, and his cat Biscuit.
He was preceded in death by his father, John R. Lynch; brother-in-law, James Stephenson; and nephew, Stephen Stephenson.
