John M. “Johnny” Sims, Jr., 69, of Owensboro, passed away Monday, February 19, 2024 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Lebanon, Ohio to the late John Melvin Sims, Sr. and Mary Jean Ebelhar Sims. 

Johnny was a truck driver and most recently worked for Grant Farms and Pasture Belt Farms. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church. Over the course of his life, Johnny enjoyed boating, swimming, horseshoe pitching, cooking at bar-b-cues and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rose J. Bartlett in 2015.

Johnny is survived by his sister, Sharon Bumm; nieces, Michelle Kassinger (Dale) and Karen Bumm (Tim Roach); nephews, Jason Hawkins and Brandon Hawkins; and several great-nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at St. Mary Magdalene Cemetery.
