John Angelo Macchi

John Angelo Macchi, age 84, of Jacksonville, NC, passed away on March 25th, 2025.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at Onslow Memorial Park in Jacksonville. A memorial service will also be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1st, 2025, at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Jacksonville, with Pastor Sami Johnson officiating.
John was born on July 25th, 1940. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Fendt Macchi, as well as his daughters, Denise Macchi and Kathleen Brownstein.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia Macchi, Laura Gormley, Marie Macchi, and Susan Grochan (and her husband, James), along with his sons, John Macchi (and his husband, Jeff), Thomas Macchi (and his wife, Heidi), and Michael Sarno (and his wife, Cara). John was also a proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren and a loving great-grandfather to 15 great-grandchildren.
Originally from New York, New York, John Macchi was a skilled butcher in Manhattan, proudly dubbing himself "the butcher to the stars". Throughout his many years in the business, he had the honor of serving numerous celebrities. Known for his dry sense of humor, John often found himself laughing more than those around him, leaving a lasting impression with his wit and charm.
John will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew him. His legacy of love, strength, and family will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Jacksonville.
