John Machnik Obituary

John E. Machnik
1923 - 2026
Three Rivers
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John E. Machnik, who left this world on January 21, 2026, at the age of 102. He was born on December 8, 1923, in Ware, Massachusetts, son of Stanley and Stefanie (Mazurek)) Machnik.
John was predeceased by his first wife, Julia (Lemanski) Machnik, and his second wife, Stella (Pisarski) Machnik. He is survived by his loving children, Mark Machnik of Palmer, MA and Arlene Baker of Sacramento, CA; his brother, James Machnik of Vernon, CT; as well as six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; as well as his close friend Angie Cormier of Ware. He was also predeceased by two brothers, Dominik and Edward Machnik, and three sisters, Veronica Goodreau, Fredericka Roszko, and Irene Audette.
A proud veteran, John served in the Army Air Corps during World War II before continuing his commitment to service in the 104th Air National Guard and Reserves for 35 years, retiring with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. His professional journey was intertwined with a distinguished career at Barnes Air Force Base in Westfield, where he began as a jet engine mechanic and later excelled in quality control, ensuring compliance for 20 years.
John has lived in Three Rivers since 1959 and was an active member of Divine Mercy Parish, where he participated actively in the men's guild. He was also proud to be associated with Amvets Post 74, the American Legion, and St. Stans Club. His hobbies included collecting airplanes and beer steins.
A calling hour will be held on Tuesday, February 3, from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, at the Beers & Story Palmer Funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Divine Mercy Parish. Burial will take place in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Divine Mercy Parish.
