It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Stewart MacLean, Sr. a faithful husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. At age 84, on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Riverside Hospital in Newport News, Virginia, he departed this earth to be with his beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ whom he loved and served with all his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Georgianna MacLean; brother Billy MacLean; sisters Barbara Kayser, Jean MacLean, Shirley Thomas; and grandson Jason MacLean.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Judy MacLean; brother David MacLean; children Bill MacLean, John MacLean, Jr., Catherine Six, Elizabeth MacLean and James MacLean; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Born on February 23, 1941, in Rochester, New York he went on to live a life of service to God and his family. He attended Mars Hill College and Wake Forest University where he studied chemistry. He founded Target Flavors in 1981 and was a part of the company until his death. He firmly believed in God's calling to reach others with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a support to many ministries over the years and touched many lives with his great faith. With firm trust as Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, he believed in the love and mercy of God and the Resurrection.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 3 pm at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel (3600 Virginia Beach Blvd., Virginia Beach, Virginia).

Family will also receive friends at an additional service on Sunday, October 5 at 3pm at Northville Baptist Church, 9 Little Bear Hill Rd, New Milford, CT as well as a graveside service at 10 am, Sunday October 5th at New Milford Center Cemetery at 6 Poplar Street, New Milford, CT.
